SRINAGAR- Hoor Fatima, the remarkable three-year-old chess prodigy, has etched her name in history as the youngest champion of the prestigious 2nd Kashmir Open International FIDE Rated Chess Tournament.
The tournament, organised by The Kashmir Chess Club and held at the Indoor Sports Complex, Polo Ground in Srinagar (J&K), commenced on June 10 and concluded on Thursday.
With participation from 120 players hailing from various parts of India, including an international player from Russia, Hoor’s triumph is nothing short of extraordinary. Her tenacity propelled her to claim the coveted title in this five-day long chess tournament.
Hoor’s remarkable achievement not only showcases her exceptional talent but also symbolizes the rise of a new generation of sporting heroes in Kashmir.

The tournament is being conducted as per Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) laws of Chess and the FIDE Swiss System with nine rounds. Khalid Amin Gojwari is the tournament director and Comrade Parvez was the Chief Organiser of the tournament and is also the Secretary – The Kashmir Chess Club, Srinagar and FA Pavan K. Rathi is the Chief Arbiter.
