Srinagar- Close on the heels of recently concluded G20 meeting in Kashmir, the Government Medical College (GMC) in Srinagar is all set to organize a three-day international hi-tech conference on Robotic Surgeries here in this capital city.
The conference is being jointly organised by the Post Graduate Dept of General and Minimal Access Surgery GMC Srinagar and the Kashmir Urological Society (KUS) and will take place from June 1st to 3rd at GMC Srinagar.
Talking to Kashmir Observer, Dr. Mufti Mahmood Professor & HOD Surgery, GMC Srinagar said over 300 delegates, including those from the United Kingdom and United States are likely to attend the conference.
On June 1-2, there will be a live operative workshop covering a wide range of Urology and General Surgery cases.
“We have tried to gather the best cases and the best operative faculty. On June 3, there will be deliberations, which will include guest lectures, panel discussions, paper presentations, poster presentations, PG quiz etc,” Dr. Mahmood said, adding “A live robotic operative workshop will be broadcasted to the auditorium, where the guest will be present,”
He said the event will bring together experts and enthusiasts from diverse fields to share knowledge and insights.
“Our aim is to create a platform for professionals, researchers, and students to exchange ideas, present their research findings, and learn from each other. We have invited renowned speakers and surgeons who will share their experiences and expertise in their respective fields,” the department said in a statement.
It further reads that “We believe that the conference will be an excellent opportunity for you to expand your knowledge, upgrade your surgical skills and elaborate your network with fellow professionals,”
Dr. Mahmood said that is for the first time in the history of J&K and GMC Srinagar that there will be a relay of Advanced Robotic Surgery from Kochi which will help the postgraduates and young surgeons to polish the skills of young doctors in robotic surgeries.
“This will ultimately benefit our community and the young doctors who don’t have to move out of UT to get such an exposure,” he said.
The department has been preparing for the conference since December 2022 and various committees were formed to ensure everything goes very smoothly. The department has also modified operation theaters for the conference for the conducive atmosphere for the top surgeons of the country.
