PRIME Minister Narendra Modi affirmed India’s full preparedness and unwavering commitment to safeguard its sovereignty and dignity in a recent interview with the Japanese publication Nikkei Asia, the PM emphasized that the peace on the border was important to foster normal bilateral relations between India and its neighbors. He also underscored that the cordial India-China relationship can only be forged on the principles of mutual respect, mutual sensitivity, and mutual interests adding that normal India-China relations will benefit not only India and China but also the wider region and the world.
As for ties with Pakistan, the PM emphasized the desire for normal and neighborly relations with Islamabad provided the latter created a conducive environment free from terrorism and hostilities. The PM made it clear that the onus is on Pakistan to take necessary steps in this regard.
Talking about the Russia-Ukraine war, the PM expressed India’s clear and unwavering position on the conflict, saying his country maintained communication with both Russia and Ukraine. He added that cooperation and collaboration should define our times, not conflict. The comments followed the PM’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Japan Saturday, the first in-person meeting between the two since Russia’s invasion began. Modi After the meeting, the PM said India would do “everything we can” to help end the war.
The PM also highlighted India’s economic progress, saying the country had witnessed remarkable growth over the years. He noted that India has risen from being the tenth-largest economy in 2014 to the fifth-largest globally. While acknowledging the challenges posed by global headwinds, he stressed that India has built a strong foundation in recent years, positioning the country favorably for future growth
Currently on a three-nation tour, the PM is in Australia on the third and final leg of his three-nation tour, after concluding his visit to Papua New Guinea where he co-hosted the first Forum for India–Pacific Islands Cooperation summit and met leaders from the Pacific Island nations to boost bilateral ties. Modi is visiting Australia as a guest of the Australian Government. He will also attend a community event in Sydney to celebrate Australia’s dynamic and diverse Indian diaspora.

The country is playing now a bigger role in influencing world affairs and working to change it for the better. India’s commitment to peaceful resolutions, economic progress, and support for those in need showcases its determination to play a constructive role on the global stage.
