Was Not Aware, Will Address Issues At Earliest: SSP Traffic
Srinagar- The residents of Mirza Kamil Sahib Chowk, Hawal are up in arms against authorities for allegedly not allowing them to park their vehicles on the roadsides.
Residents say the authorities have placed barricades at M.K Chowk to divert traffic at the busy square, causing frequent traffic jams in the area.
Residents further alleged tyres of cars parked on the roadside area deflated, thus leaving motorists in a helpless situation.
“We had parked our car outside our house and we were shocked to see tyres ruptured. We don’t have any other space to park our vehicles” said Syed Hussain, a local resident.
“We don’t have a problem obeying rules but the authorities should provide us with parking space so that we can park our vehicles” he said.
Locals also said since barricades have been placed on roads, people take to the wrong side, thus risking the lives of pedestrians and commuters in addition to their own.
“The reason for placing barricades is aimed at making people follow rules and to minimize traffic jams, however, the diversions and barricades play spoilsport.” Mohammad Burhan, a resident said, adding some people drive on the wrong side, which results in quarrels and fights between commuters.
The locals appealed to the authorities to get the barricades removed for the safety of commuters.
Speaking to Kashmir Observer, SSP Traffic Srinagar Muzaffar Ahmad Shah said he was not aware about the issue and assured action.
“Now that the issue has been brought to my notice, we will address the issue” he said.
