Says Father Of Nation Achieved Everything Including Freedom Through Power Of Truth
Srinagar- The Union Territory Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha said on Thursday that Mahatma Gandhi had no law degree from the University and only qualification was a high school diploma.
“Who would say Gandhiji was not educated? Nobody has the courage to say that. But did you know that he did not have a single university degree or qualification. There are many of us who think that Mahatma Gandhi had a law degree. No, he did not. His only qualification was a high school diploma,” Sinha said, while delivering the keynote address for Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Memorial Lecture at ITM, Gwalior on Thursday.
Gandhi, he said, qualified to practice law but he did not have a law degree.
“He had no degree but look at how educated he was…our father of the Nation,” he said, adding, “Gandhi achieved everything including freedom through the power of truth,”
The LG further said that he wanted to make clear that one should not only be indulging in formal connection with a degree or what one thinks is education.
Earlier, Sinha said that India has emerged as the fifth largest economic power of the world and we are moving forward with the goal to become part of the world’s top 3 largest economies.
“Today, all the policies and schemes of the government are people-centric, which have taken the form of mass movement. What seems to be unthinkable a decade ago has now become possible,” he said.
“Change in each and every individual is necessary for the complete transformation of society. We must rededicate ourselves towards establishing an egalitarian and inclusive society as a befitting tribute to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia ji”, he added.
On this occasion, the LG invited the students to visit Jammu Kashmir and experience the new and transformed Union Territory.
