2 Tourists Killed In Road Accident in South Kashmir’s Bijbehara

Srinagar- Two female tourists from West Bengal were killed and four others injured on Tuesday in a road accident in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

35-year-old Karuna Sardar of Kolkata was killed on the spot after the vehicle she was travelling in, collided with a truck near Arwani Bridge in Bijbehara on Tuesday, reports said. Four others, identified as Rakesh of Udhampur, Nandita Vedi and Bahnolal Chjerveti, Ritu Devi – all residents of Kolkata, were injured in the accident.

All the injured were removed to the government medical college (GMC) Anantnag for treatment. However, the doctors there referred them to Srinagar hospital for treatment.

According to reports, Ritu Devi also succumbed to her injuries.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case and started further investigations in this regard.
