Srinagar- Two training programmes entitled as “Raw silk technology -a way forward for entrepreneurship development” and “Hands on training on propagation techniques of mulberry” were inaugurated at College of Temperate Sericulture, Mirgund, SKUAST-K, under Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY), an official said Sunday.
A total of 56 trainees, 28 for each programme registered on the inaugural session. At the onset of programme, Dr. Aabid Khaliq Tantray, Assistant Professor and one of the programme coordinators welcomed the participants and briefed about the programme.
Prof K.A. Sahaf, Head Division of Silk Product Science formally welcomed the guest and trainees. Prof. M.F. Baqual, Associate Dean of the college spoke in detail about the relevance of the programme keeping in view recent advances made in the field of Sericulture and also complemented Dr. Aabid Khaliq Tantray and Dr. Shabir Ahmad Wani, the coordinators of the two training programmes, for organizing skill based training modules for rural youth and desired that all the participants should take advantage of such programmes.
Further, Prof. Baqual expressed the gratitude in absentia to Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir, Director Extension Prof. Dil Mohammad Makdoomi for supporting the programme whole heartedly.
Earlier, faculty from Govt. Degree College Pattan including Prof. Imtiyaz Ahmad, Prof. Sajad Sarwar and Dr. Tabasum Nazir also spoke on the occasion and wished the programme a grand success.
Besides, scientists of the different divisions of the College attended the inaugural session. At last, Dr. Mushtaq Rasool Mir, Head, Division of Basic Sciences & Humanities, COTS presented vote of thanks.
