Letter To Editor | Haircut Gone Wrong

Representational Photo

MANY of us would have read a weird news item recently that a model from New Delhi had actually won Rs. 2-crores from the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) as compensation for a wrong hair-cut done to her at a five-star hotel in New Delhi, when contrary to her instructions, most of her hair was chopped off by a lady hair-stylist, leaving only four inches from the top. Poor and wrong coiffures can have adverse effects on a person’s mental health and his/her career prospects. Many of us had moments where a barber or a hair-stylist seriously screwed up our hair and all we did was to shake our head in a losing cause. But, this woman from Delhi decided to speak up against the injustice done to her. The harrowing incident proves a point or two that it cannot be said that a professional hair-stylist will always do a good job to you just because he/she works in a star hotel salon. Personal aesthetics, lifestyle, and habits all factor into what we need in a hair-cut.
