BJP Minority Morcha tasked to hold Sufi, Ulema conferences on PM’s directive to bridge gap between party and Muslim community
New Delhi- In a fresh bid to reach out to Muslim community ahead of 2024 general elections, the Bhartiya Janata Party Minority Morcha is organising Sufi and Ulema conferences in Muslim populated districts of India from next month.
The outreach is aimed at bridging the divide between the Saffron party and the largest minority in the country and the process will begin from Kashmir, Maulana Suhaib Qasmi, who has been appointed as the program coordinator told Kashmir Observer.
“Such conferences will be held in 100 Lok Sabha constituencies with Muslim populations from next month to lessen the distance between the BJP and the Muslim community” Maulana Qasmi said.
“The purpose to begin the process from Kashmir has a symbolic value as the place has been an abode of Sufi saints”, Qasmi said.

“Those siding with peace and human development are Sufis and those opposing such values are Kufis and we will bring Sufi oriented people and Ulema on our stage”, Maulana Qasmi added.
Asked if the outreach is with an eye on the upcoming elections, Qasmi said Prime Minister Modi has clearly conveyed that the BJP should reach out to Muslims whether they vote or not vote for the party. Primary aim is to reduce the gap between BJP and Muslims”, he said.
Earlier on January 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the National Executive meeting called upon the party leaders to reach out to the minorities, including Muslims, without expecting votes.
PM Modi also instructed BJP leaders to refrain from unsolicited remarks against any community, sources added.
PM Modi said under the resolution of ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat’, all states should cooperate with each other and be accommodative of each others’ language and culture.
Prime Minister Modi exhorted all BJP fronts to connect more with the villages in the border areas. He said BJP workers should play their part in the development of aspirational districts.
