‘Chess For Every One’ Tournament Begins At Srinagar

SRINAGAR- FIDE-rated chess tournament “Chess For Every One” commenced on Friday at Indoor Sports Stadium Polo View here.

The tournament is recognised by the All India Chess Federation and is being organised by The Kashmir Chess Club in collaboration with All J&K Chess Association and under the aegis of J&K Sports Council.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidori inaugurated the event in presence of Cluster Head J&K Bank Riyaz Ahmad Wani, Sajad Khalik Bhat of J&K Police and Indoor Sports Manager Iqbal and many other guests and dignitaries, according to a press release issued by the club’s Press Secretary/PRO Gowhar Rashid.

In the welcome note and opening remarks from club member, Comrade Pervez applauded the club members and other volunteers who came forward from time to time.

Around 110 players took part in the first round of matches, as many international rated players from J&K and outside are participating in the tournament.
