Department Of Ayush Rejects Charge, Say Medicine Was Brought For Amarnath Pilgrims

Srinagar- The department of Ayush has landed into a controversy over the alleged free distribution of an ayurvedic medicine prepared with cow urine, at many centres across the Valley.
Sanjeevani Vati, a polyherbal preparation of ten ingredients, equally mixed with ‘Gau Mutra’ or cow urine is allegedly being distributed free of charge to the people in Kashmir, as part of Ayush Bharat free medicine campaign.
Produced and marketed by Uma Ayurvedics, Sanjeevani Vati comes in a tablet form and is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome (Dyspepsia), worm infestation, cough, cold and headache.
A medico, wishing anonymity, said the doctors and other subordinate staff have been asked to hold free medical camps to ensure Sanjeevani Vati is distributed to as many people.
However, he said no other medicine partly or equally prepared with Gau Mutra (cow urine) is available at any Ayush center except Sanjeevani Vati.
“Only this medicine consisting of cow urine is available in the stock at some centers,” he said.
When contacted, Director Ayush J&K, Dr Mohan Singh termed the reports about the free distribution of cow urine made medicine baseless aimed at creating confusion.
He said this medicine was exclusively arranged for Amarnath pilgrims last year and was removed from all Ayush centers as soon as the yatra culminated.
“A few boxes were inadvertently unloaded in Baramulla last year, and those too were removed immediately. How on earth is this medicine available at Ayush centers? These reports are baseless aimed at creating confusion,” Singh told Kashmir Observer.
