Srinagar- Continuing its ongoing drive to retrieve the state and Kahcharai land from the land grabbers, the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Friday ran a bulldozer over a commercial structure belonging to a former minister Ghulam Hassan Khan in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
“A commercial structure belonging to an ex-minister of social welfare was demolished as part of our anti-encroachment drive to reclaim Kahcharai/state land from unlawful encroachments. No one is above the law,” the Shopian district administration posted on Twitter.
Meanwhile, an official spokesperson said that 343 kanal of state and Kahcharai land was retrieved from encroachers in the district on Friday.
Giving more details, he said, the land retrieved from illegal encroachment includes 25 kanal 12 marlas at village Zainapora , 55 kanal 23 marlas at village Nagisharan , 43 kanal 3 marlas in village Berthipora, 85 kanal in village Chittragam , 28 kanal in village Vedapora , 12 marlas in village and 105 kanal 5 marlas in village Mahandpora.
The anti-encroachment drives, the spokesperson said, were conducted under the supervision of Tehsildars of respective Tehsils.
“These drives shall continue till the entire encroached land is retrieved from the encroachers,” the spokesperson said.
The action against the former minister comes two days after the administration in Budgam district demolished the outer wall, main gate as well as the entrance of the guardroom of the former minister and National Conference General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar’s residence in the high-security Humhama area near Srinagar Airport .
