IT refers to “WFI President has sexually exploited women wrestlers, alleges medalist Vinesh Phogat”. These are very serious allegations against Wrestling Federation Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Since it has come from the biggest names of Indian Wrestling, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat, it needs to be taken very seriously and should not be brushed under the carpet. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has a notorious image and is known for his high headedness , BJP would do well to ask him to resign till he clears his name from this controversy. Sadly Indian Sports and controversy always go together. Even if there is an iota of truth in these serious allegations, it is a matter of big shame for WFI, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and the BJP. Last but never the least, that is why it is more essential to have more women staff as coaches or counselling with Women athletes, because it is neither the first nor the last time we have heard about sexual exploitation of women athletes in India.
