Business Establishments Directed To Install CCTV Cameras In 15 Days Or Face Action
Srinagar- A day after Union Home Minister, Amit Shah assured to make the security grid in Jammu ‘impenetrable’ within next three months, the administration in Doda on Saturday sought details of tenants from landlords and businessmen, besides ordering mandatory installation of CCTV cameras in all shops across the district.
In an order issued under Section 144 CrPC, District Magistrate Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan sought details from landlords, property owners, vehicle owners, shop and commercial business establishment owners, attorney holders, and persons in charge of properties in any capacity located within the jurisdiction of the district to submit detailed particulars of their tenants to the concerned police station within 7 days.
“The order has been issued with the aim of ensuring public safety and preventing anti-national and anti-social elements from seeking hideouts in residential areas under the guise of tenants and domestic helpers,” an official spokesperson said.
He said that the landlords and property owners, along with the tenants, have been made accountable under the order.
“It also clarifies that arrangements such as paying guest and subletting are also covered under the order, and owners who have allowed jhuggies on their land are also required to disclose the details as per the declaration form. The SHO concerned will maintain a separate register for the purpose,” he added.
The declaration form, the spokesperson, can be found on the district website, as individual notice cannot be served.
The DC also warned punishable action under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code against any person found contravening his order.
“DM Doda has taken this step to ensure public safety and keep a check on anti-national and anti-social elements, who might seek hideout in residential areas in the guise of tenants/domestic helpers. This move is expected to help the law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and order in the district,” the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, the DC has also ordered mandatory installation of CCTV cameras in all shops, establishments, restaurants, hotels, garages, and scrap dealers on National Highway, as well as in main markets and other important roads within the jurisdiction of the district.
“Owners have been given 15 days to comply with the order, failure to do so will be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code. The Senior Superintendent of Police has been tasked with ensuring the implementation of this order,” the spokesperson said.
The back to back orders issued by DC Doda come a day after the Home Minister chaired a top brass security meeting in Jammu and took stock of the prevailing situation in the Union Territory.
Shah said that all security agencies are fighting a decisive battle against terrorism.
“Within three months the security grid in every area of Jammu would be made impenetrable by further strengthening it,” Shah had said.
He had also assured the people that security agencies will be ready to protect Jammu regardless of the intention of the terrorist organizations.
