SRINAGAR- Three footballers from Kashmir Valley, Tajamul Islam, Huzafah Ahmad Dar and Faizan Waheed, were on Saturday named in India’s Under-17 squad for upcoming international friendlies.

India U-17 head coach Bibiano Fernandes announced the 22-member squad, which has been in camp for over the course of last month. Tajamul, a part of J&K State Sports Council FA, plies his trade as a goalkeeper, while Huzafah and Faizan are both midfielders. Huzafah plays for Real Kashmir FC and Faizan for J&K State Sports Council FA.

Earlier in September, the trio was selected for the Under-17 team for SAFF Championship. In October, they made it to the final squad for the 2023 AFC U-17 Asian Cup qualifiers in Saudi Arabia and helped India qualify for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup.

The under-17 squad is now scheduled to play against UAE Under-20 National Team in Dubai on January 16, 2023. On their return to India, the team will play two friendlies against Uzbekistan on January 22 and 24 in Goa.
