Srinagar- Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday to review the ground situation in view of the killing of six civilians, including two children in twin militant attacks setting off massive protests, reports said Thursday.
New agency ANI quoted sources as saying that Shah will visit Rajouri’s Upper Dhangri village and meet the family members of the civilians killed in twin attacks.
The Home Minister, the report said, will also chair a high-level meeting of the officials of the Jammu and Kashmir administration and security forces. Besides reviewing the overall security situation, Shah is also likely to announce extra security measures, including further strengthening of Village Defence Committees (VDCs).
Pertinently, four people were killed when terrorists opened fire on three houses in Dangri village on the evening of January 1. Fourteen hours later, an improvised explosive device (IED) went off in the village, killing two minor cousins Samiksha and Vihan.
Sources told ANI that the Home Minister will reach Jammu at 11:15 am and will leave for Rajouri by helicopter at 11:30 am.
He will arrive at Rajouri at 12 noon and then go to Dhangri to inspect the site of the terror attacks and interact with the families of the victims.
Shah will return to Jammu at 1:30 pm. In Jammu, he will preside over the meeting of officers of civil administration and security establishment at Raj Bhavan at 2 pm.
Earlier on January 9, the Home Minister held a crucial meeting with top leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party at his residence in the national capital.
Meanwhile, unprecedented security arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth visit of the Home Minister.
“Security arrangements have been put in place to ensure smooth arrival of the Home Minister,” sources said, adding that “A high alert has been sounded on highways, Rajouri district and also in parts of Jammu. All security agencies have been put on high alert.” sources told a local news agency KNO
