80% Work On Dog Sterilisation Facility At Tengpora Completed: SMC

Commissioner Khan says Corporation working to reduce, control dog population in the City

Srinagar: Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Athar Amir Khan on Friday said that around 80 percent work has been completed on dog sterilisation facility in Tengpora area of Srinagar.

Talking to reporters here, Khan said the Corporation was working hard to control the dog population in the City and for that several initiatives have been taken.

He said they have constructed two more dog sterilisation facilities, one is at Tengpora, which is 80 percent complete and another is at Chatarhama.

“We are trying to build more capacity of sterilisation facilities to control dog birth and we are also working with some NGOs in this regard so that dog population is controlled in the city,” he said.

He said they are also trying to reduce and remove bins and dumpsters across the city, where stray dogs and animals gather and for this they have launched a door-to-door campaign to provide bins to every household.
