BIS, NMDC Jointly Hold One-Day National Seminar In Hyderabad


Hyderabad- One day National Seminar was organised by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), New Delhi and NMDC Limited jointly on the subject “Importance of Sieving and Sizing in Research and Industry” at NMDC Head Office in Hyderabad on Friday.

The seminar was attended by Academia, Research Institutions, Equipment Manufacturers and Industry stakeholders.

More than 100 delegates from Mining, Metallurgy, Agriculture, building materials (Civil Engineering), Cement Industry, Pharmaceutical Industry, Food and Drinks, Nano Technology, Paint and Pigment Industry Powder Metallurgy participated in the seminar from all over India.

K V Rao, Head, BIS, Hyderabad welcomed the gathering. Dr. R. P. Singhal, Chairman, CED 55, BIS introduced the seminar theme. He informed about the various Indian standards which come under CED 55.

Dilip Kumar Mohanty, Director (Production), NMDC Limited was the chief guest for the seminar.

Mohanty in his address highlighted the importance of size in various industries.

He also emphasised that the quality of future technologies like3-D Printing, Additive Manufacturing, Image Processing, Machine Learning and Nano Technology are fully dependent on the powder size and size distribution. He also gave examples for sizes of various raw materials used in various industries.
Dr. R.P. Singhal from BIS said that the standards followed by India are on par with international standards and also informed that BIS standards can be downloaded from the website free of cost.

Technical experts from industry, Researchand Equipment Manufacturing were invited to deliver the lectures on Indian standards of CED 55. Experts from BIS, NMDC, CSIR-IMMT, AIMIL, ARCI, Reddy Labs, Associate SoapstoneCompany and Champion Manufacturing shared their expertise with the delegates.

Dr. G V Rao DGM (MP), NMDC Limited, TechnicalCommittee Member CED 55, BIS informed about the latest works and revision of BIS Standards of CED 55 Technical Committee.

Dr. Manoj Kumar Rajak, Member Secretary, CED 55, BIS New Delhi extended a vote of thanks.
