Srinagar- The Department of Community Medicine Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar organized a programme on domestic abuse and Cyber Security on Tuesday.
Speakers voiced concern on the ever increasing number of cyber-crimes and the cases of domestic violence. Ways to deal with these severe issues grappling with society were also discussed.
Speaking on the occasion Mantasha Bin Rashid, Secretary SDA spoke on the issue of domestic violence and how over the time it has been changing forms.
“The rising number of domestic violence cases is a matter of health concern. Mostly, it has been seen that women are at the receiving end” Mantasha said.
Citing recent examples of violence against women, she said that a women was killed at Palpora using an axe, so, the forms of violence against women have changed but it has not been eliminated.
She said that it should be ensured that women are given their due rights.
“Being part and parcel of this society, we need to do something at our individual levels” Mantasha said.
Syed Sleet Shah, DySP Cyber Crime said that in Kashmir when it comes to cyber-crimes, an upward trend has been seen.
“We try to connect with the people and try to go to different educational institutions to make them aware about the cyber-crimes and the different cyber security measures they can use to remain safe.
Sleet further said that such programmes shall continue in the future.
