Srinagar- Three residential houses were damaged in a fire incident in Shalla Bagh, Alamgari Bazar locality of Srinagar on Thursday. Fire inflicted heavy damage on two houses, the adjacent house was also partially damaged in the incident.
However, the source of the fire incident remains unknown.
Locals said the congestion in the locality and the lack of fire gaps is the reason other houses in the vicinity caught fire.
The fire incident has rendered four families homeless. The affected families alleged that the personnel from the Fire & emergency Department did not reach on time, however officials denied these allegations.
A Fire and Emergency Department official said they received a phone call at 10:05 a.m. that fire had erupted at Alamgari Bazar of Srinagar.
“We summoned neighboring fire stations and with the effort of our staff the fire was confined to the involved property. We made every effort to prevent the fire from spreading to other structures” he said.
National Conference Chief Spokesperson and In Charge Segment Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq also visited the fire victims and expressed solidarity with them and assured them that their plight will be raised with the competent authorities for swift redressal.
Later in the day, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, a team of District Administration visited Alamgari Bazar area in Eidgah Tehsil of the City where two residential houses were engulfed in a fire incident.
On the occasion, the team provided immediate assistance to the fire victims consisting of four families residing in the houses which got damaged in a massive fire incident.
The team assessed the damages caused due to the fire incident and expressed sympathy with the affected families on loss of property.
On the occasion an immediate assistance in the form of 40 blankets, 20 mattresses, 20 bed sheets and 4 kitchen sets, in addition Rs 20,000 were also provided to all four affected families each Rs 5000 out of Red Cross fund of District Administration Srinagar.
