Srinagar To Host Asian Pencak Silat Championship Today

SRINAGAR- For the first time ever, Srinagar is set to host an international Pencak Silat championship today, October 11.

Srinagar’s Sher-i Kashmir Indoor Stadium will witness Asian Pencak Silat Championship 2022 scheduled to be played over six days, with teams from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and India participating.

This is the first international event to be played under the banner of the Sports Council’s special initiative, My Youth My Pride. The event is being held under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

J&K Sports Council is sponsoring the championship and the Indian Pencak Silat Federation is the organiser of the event which was sanctioned by the Asian Pencak Silat Federation and the International Pencak Silat Federation.

A meeting in this regard was also convened by Nuzhat Farooq, Sports Officer Kashmir in Srinagar on Tuesday in which members of the organising body and other officials from the Sports Council were present.
