Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Saturday extended his greetings to the people on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti and urged them to imbibe wisdom from Gandhiji’s thoughts and actions to realize the dream of a Swachh and Aatma-Nirbhar Bharat.

“On the occasion of the 153rd birth anniversary of the Father of our Nation Mahatma Gandhiji, I pay my humble tributes. Gandhiji’s ideals of truth, non-violence, equality, mutual respect, brotherhood and harmony continue to inspire millions of people across the world,” the LG said in his message.

According to an official spokesperson, the LG observed that the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti is a moment of contemplation for all of us to rededicate ourselves towards establishing a peaceful and harmonious society with equality and justice for all.

“Mahatma Gandhi’s lifelong campaigns for the cause of the downtrodden, deprived, and oppressed sections of society and his relentless pursuit of promoting communal harmony and national integration have guided us to establish a citizen-centric governance structure that promotes social equity, social justice and ensures the well being of all,” Sinha said.

The LG, the spokesperson said, urged the people to imbibe wisdom from Gandhiji’s thoughts and actions to realize the dream of a Swachh and Aatma-Nirbhar Bharat.

Sinha, he said, also paid tributes to former Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri on his Birth Anniversary.

The spokesperson said that the LG recalled his slogan of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, which is still etched in the national conscience and motivates the entire nation.

“His indefatigable spirit of service to humanity will continue to inspire generations. We should rededicate ourselves to Shastri Ji’s ideals and strive to translate them into action,” Sinha said.
