AWANTIPORA- The 1st J&K Chancellor’s Athletic Meet concluded at Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) on Wednesday with IUST and Jammu University bagging the top two positions.
Earlier on Tuesday, the LG of J&K and Chancellor of IUST, Manoj Sinha had inaugurated the 400 meter Synthetic Athletic Track, before kick starting the two-day athletic tournament.
With IUST leading from the front, the athletic tourney was marked first of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir organised at university level, offering a key platform for men and women athletes from various universities of J&K to showcase their talent and skills.
Jammu University won the first prize followed by Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) grabbing the second prize while as both NIT Srinagar and Cluster University Srinagar put the joint show for third reward.
Felicitating the winners, Vice Chancellor Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, also the chief guest of the event, applauded the sportsman spirit of athletes and the efforts of Physical Education department, organising the event.
Guest of Honour, Registrar, Prof Naseer Iqbal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora, Zaffar Shawl, Chairman Sports Committee, Sameer Wazir, also applauded the participants.
Earlier, Dr. Hilal Ahmad Rather, Assistant Director Physical Education & Sports welcomed the guests and thanked all the participants and officials.
Among others gracing the event included Dr. Parvez Ahmad Mir Director CEID, Dr. Aabid Hussain Shalla, Associate Dean, Dr. Rayais, Dr. Ahsan Hussain , Altaf and Majid Nazir.
