Child Mortality Rate On Decline In J&K

IMR Decreases From 49 In 2008 To 17 In 2020

Srinagar- The infant mortality rate in Jammu and Kashmir has decreased from 49 in 2008 to 17 in 2020, a survey has revealed.

As revealed in the Sample Registration System (SRS) 2020-22 (survey period), Jammu & Kashmir has registered considerable improvement in various health indicators including Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) during the last year. The IMR has decreased from 20 to 17 in a single year.

As per data, the earlier neonatal mortality rate in J&K has declined from 33 in 2008, 32 in 2009, 30 in 2010, 26 in 2011, 25 in 2012, 24 in 2013, 22 in 2014, 18 in 2015, 15 in 2016, 13 in 2017 and 12 in 2018.

The data said that the neonatal mortality rate in J&K has declined from 39 in 2008, 37 in 2009, 35 in 2010, 32 in 2011, 30 in 2012, 29 in 2013, 26 in 2014, 20 in 2015, 18 in 2016, 17 in 2017, 17 in 2018 and 15 in 2019.

It also added that Infant mortality rate in J&K has declined from 49 in 2008, 45 in 2009 , 43 in 2010, 41 in 2011, 39 in 2012, 37 in 2013, 34 in 2014, 26 in 2015, 24 in 2016, 23 in 2017, 22 in 2018, 20 in 2019 and 17 in year 2020.

It said that the under five mortality rate in J&K has declined from 55 in 2008, 50 in 2009 , 48 in 2010, 45 in 2011, 43 in 2012, 40 in 2013, 35 in 2014, 28 in 2015, 26 in 2016, 24 in 2017, 23 in 2018 and 21 in year 2019. (KNO)
