Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday announced 10-day summer vacations in all the schools across the Kashmir Valley and summer zones of Jammu division amid the sweltering heat wave.

“It is hereby ordered that all the government educational institutions and recognized private schools upto higher secondary level functioning in Kashmir division and winter zone of Jammu division shall observe summer vacation w.e.f 4th of July, 2022 to 14th of July,2022,” reads an order issued by BK Singh, Principal Secretary To Government School Education Department on Friday.

The announcement of summer vacations comes at a time when the Valley is reeling under intense heat wave. On Thursday, the capital city of Srinagar recorded the hottest day of the season with the mercury touching 34°C mark.
The highest June temperature in Srinagar in the last 12 years was 35°C recorded on 3 June 2018.
