Srinagar- Police on Saturday claimed to have solved the case of a police sub-inspector killing by arresting three accused, including a close relative of the deceased officer.
In a handout issued here this evening, a police spokesperson said that during the course of investigation into the killing of Sub-Inspector, Farooq Ahmad several suspects were called for questioning. However, the three suspects were zeroed in and their role in the case was proved.
He identified them as Arsalaan Bashir alias Faisal, Tawkeer Manzoor and Owais Mushtaq, all residents of Samboora Pampore were subsequently arrested.
Pertinently, the SI was shot dead last week inside his paddy fields in Samboora in Pulwama district, just a walking distance from his home
According to the spokesperson, during the course of investigation it surfaced that the accused trio had hatched a criminal conspiracy with a militant Majid Nazir Wani of Ladhoo, who was killed in an encounter on June 21, and had extended corroborated support to Wani in execution of the murder.
“All the three accused involved in the killing are very close neighbours of the martyr SI Farooq Ahmad. While as accused Tawkeer Manzoor is the martyr SI Farooq Mir’s cousin brother’s son,” he said.
“Incriminating materials, 01 Pistol and other ammunition have been recovered from their possession. Further investigation into the matter is in progress,” he added.
The spokesperson quoted IGP Kashmir appreciating the role of Awantipora & Pulwama Police for jointly solving this “heinous terror crime”.
