Says Devotees In High Numbers Expected To Perform Pilgrimage
Ganderbal- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Friday directed all the departments involved in the annual Amarnath Yatra to ensure the best possible facilities as a high number of devotees footfall is expected for the pilgrimage taking place after nearly three years.
Sinha passed these directions during his day-long tour to Baltal and Pahalgam axis of Amarnath Ji Yatra during which he reviewed the preparedness and response mechanism of all the stakeholder departments during the visit, an official spokesperson said Friday.
The LG, he said, also conducted on-site inspection of facilities on travel routes of Baltal & Pahalgam and chaired review meetings at the base camps which discussed lodging, health care, communication network, sanitation, water supply, weather forecasting, emergency response, fire safety and all other basic necessities.
“Better coordination among various agencies is of utmost importance for better facilities, seamless journey and spiritual experience for Yatris. All the departments involved in Yatra Management to ensure the best possible facilities as a high number of devotees footfall is expected for the annual pilgrimage,” Sinha said.
During his visits, the spokesperson said that the LG interacted with the Camp Directors, officials of Police and other security agencies and sought the status of the Yatra arrangements.
Sinha, he said, also instructed for fire audit at all vulnerable places and directed the concerned Deputy Commissioners to hold regular joint meetings of all stakeholders including security agencies.
The Lt Governor also complimented all stakeholders for their efforts in completing the assigned tasks on time. He further called for better coordination among all the departments involved in yatra management for the safe and successful conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
Earlier, the LG inaugurated 70-bedded fully-equipped DRDO hospital for quality healthcare services to yatris at Baltal,
The Hospital, funded by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will house the facilities like X-RAY, General ward, OPD, ICU, Oxygenated ward, Pharmacy, Laboratory and Ultrasound.
Pertinently, the LG on Wednesday chaired meeting of top brass security and reviewed the security arrangements and preparations for the annual pilgrimage scheduled to begin next week amid heightened security.
The high-level Unified Command Meeting was attended by senior security officers from the Home Department, J&K Police, Army, Intelligence Agencies, CRPF, BSF and others, an official spokesperson said.
According to the spokesperson, the officers in the meeting apprised the LG about the overall security situation while threadbare discussions were held on various arrangements related to the yatra.
