Kashmir University Gets First Woman Vice Chancellor

Srinagar- The Union Territory administration on Thursday appointed Professor Nilofer Khan as the new Vice Chancellor of University of Kashmir.

The appointment of Nilofer as the new VC was ordered by J&K Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.

“In exercise of the powers vested in me under Section 12 of the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act, 1969, I, Manoj Sinha, Chancellor, University of Kashmir, hereby appoint Professor Nilofer Khan, Professor, Department of Home Sciences, University of Kashmir, as Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir for a period of three (03) years with effect from the date she takes over charge, on the terms and conditions to be notified separately,” reads an order by the LG.

Pertinently, Nilofer has headed department of Home Science, and has also discharged her duties as registrar KU and has also worked as in-charge VC of the varsity.
