Police Arrests Thief From West Bengal In Srinagar

Srinagar- After video footage of locals nabbing a thief went viral on social media, Police on Friday said that a non-local thief was arrested in Srinagar’s Aali-Kadal area.

The Police said, stolen items were also recovered after the thief was caught by local residents.

Abdul Rashid, a local of Aali Kadal who was seen holding the thief in the video, said the incident took place late in the evening.

“It looks like he was part of a larger group of thieves” he said.

According to police, thief has been identified as Milan Islam S/o Mohd Noorul Islam R/o West Bengal who presently resides at Rajbagh area of the city.

However, police said that “some subversive elements are trying to give it a different color.”

“One thief namely Milan Islam S/o Mohd Noorul Islam R/o West Bengal a/present Rajbagh was caught by locals. Some stolen items were also recovered. He was allegedly caught red handed while attempting theft at Aalikadal. Some subversive elements are trying to give it a different color,” Srinagar Police tweeted.
