IUST’s Nursing Colleges Celebrate International Nurses Day

Awantipora- Alamdar Memorial College of Nursing & Medical Technology (AMCN&MT), Charar-i-Sharief, a constituent college of Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora celebrated the International Nurses Day 2022 on the theme ‘Nurses: A voice to lead, Invest in Nursing and Respect Rights to secure global health.’

Principal of the College and Organizing Chairperson of the event, Prof. (Dr.) Mehmooda Regu enlightened the audience about the role played by Nurses as frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also emphasised that more focus and attention should be given to Nursing Research in order to increase the body of knowledge.

The programme commenced with the the lamp lightening ceremony initiated by principal followed by faculty of College. Oath taking ceremony of B.Sc. Nursing 1st year students was also conducted by Ms. Insha Rasool, Tutor, AMCN&MT on this occasion. Earlier, Ms. Fehmeeda Mehmood, Tutor and organizing secretary of event delivered the welcome address and introduced the theme of the event. While, Ms. Asifah, Tutor, AMCN&MT and organizing secretary of the event held a quiz competition among the nursing students.

The programme also included a seminar, role play, stressing on importance of nursing professionals in the society and health sector and concluded with prize and certificate distribution among the participants.

IUST’s Mantaqi College Celebrates International Nurses Day

Syed Mantaqi Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology (SMMCNMT), a constituent college of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Thursday celebrated the International Nurses Day with theme: Nurses’ A Voice To LEAD: “Invest in Nursing and Respect Rights to secure Global Health.” The programme was held in collaboration with UHTC Mattan, Department of Community Medicine, GMC, Anantnag to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale under the supervision of Dean Outreach IUST.

Principal SMMCNMT, Ms. Asmat Parveen convened the programme in view of role of nurses in improving the health indices of the population as well as to contribute towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The Programme was attended by Incharge UHTC Mattan, Community Health Officers, lady health visitors, staff nurses, paramedical staff of Mattan, Faculty from SMMCN &MT and intern students of IUST.

Chief Guest Dr. Ifra Naqshbandi, echoed the sentiments of Nursing professionals for their social recognition, amenities and prosperous future. The programme was part of multiple events organised by the Varsity on this occasion which included a debate competition on the theme followed by presentations by the B.Sc. Nursing students of SMMCNMT.

Earlier, Ms. Mubashir Bashir (Tutor), welcomed all participants and Ms. Rohi Jan (Tutor) presented the vote of thanks. An Inter college quiz competition was also organised, in which Students of SMMCNMT college secured the first position.
