Srinagar- Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a hybrid militant and three over-ground workers (OGWs) in two separate operations in Budgam and Baramulla district in the Kashmir Valley.
Police, army’s 62RR and the personnel of CRPF 43 battalion arrested two militant associates of Ansar- Ghazwat-ul- Hind (AGuH) in Huroo area of Budgam, a police spokesperson said Friday. He said incriminating materials, including ammunition 1 hand grenade and 25 AK-47 rounds have been recovered from their possession.
The spokesperson identified the accused as Amir Manzoor Budoo of Dangerpora Razwan and Shahid Rasool Ganaie of Puttermulla, Safapora in Ganderbal district.
“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 134/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation has been taken up,” he said.
The spokesperson also claimed the arrest of a hybrid militant and his associate in Baramulla district.
On specific information regarding movement of militants, he said, a joint checkpoint was established by Police, 46RR, 53Bn CRPF & 2nd Bn SSB near Hilltop Cheradari Baramulla.
“During checking, the joint party observed movement of two suspicious persons who tried to flee from the spot on noticing the joint party. However, the alert party apprehended the duo tactfully,” he said.
He identified the duo as Ashiq Hossain Lone of Hyder Mohalla, Ushkara and Uzair Amin Ganie of Kanthbagh.
The spokesperson said that during the search of the accused, incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 1 Pistol, 1 magazine, 8 live rounds, 2 hand grenades and 2 UBGL grenades were recovered from their possession.
He said that the preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested duo is linked with LeT and have obtained these illegal arms ammunition through some foreign militants of LeT with the intention to carry out “terrorist activities” in Baramulla and its adjacent areas.
“Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Baramulla and further investigation is in progress,” the spokesperson added.
