Jumat-ul-Vida, the last Friday of the ongoing holy month of Ramazan, was observed across Kashmir valley with religious fervour as the revered Hazratbal Shrine witnessed the largest congregation of devotees as the Grand Mosque of Srinagar remained locked.
The prayers at major mosques and shrines in the valley were held after two years due to successive lockdowns in the wake of the outbreak of COVID-19, the officials said.
They said the managing body of the grand mosque had been informed by the authorities that the Juma-tul-Vida prayers will not be held there as they apprehended protests.
In absence of the prayers at Jamia Masjid, the biggest gathering on Juma-tul-Vida, was held at Dargah Hazratbal where devotees from all over the Valley converged.
No congregational prayers were held at the historic Jamia Masjid of Srinagar due to government ban order.
Similarly, large congregation prayers were also at other shrines and mosques across the length and breadth of the Valley.
Devotees were also seen offering Friday prayers on the streets adjacent to several mosques and shrines at various places.
