Midnight Blaze Renders 21 Families Homeless In Batamaloo

Srinagar- At least seven residential houses were gutted in a massive blaze in Batamaloo area of Srinagar city. The fire broke out in Hamza Colony Dandarkha area of Batamaloo from a residential house.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out at around 10:45 p.m. at the residence of Shabir Ahmad Sheikh. The residence of Sheikh hosted three families at the time their abode caught fire.

As the fire engulfed the densely populated locality, locals along with police and firefighters tried hard to douse the flames. However, the intensity of the fire was too high. Till the fire was controlled, seven residential houses were gutted in the incident resulting in the massive property loss.

The blaze has left twenty one families homeless .In the incident, seven residential houses got damaged.

“The families rendered homeless will take shelter in the nearby marriage hall” said a local.

Also, three officials from fire and Emergency Services were injured when they were dousing the flames in the area.

The injured have been identified as Muhammad Ahsan, son of Abdul Gani Malla of Kulgam, Akshay Seghal, son of Rajesh Kumar Seghal of Jammu and Showkat Ahmad Malik, son of Manzoor Ahmad Malik of Anantnag.

Meanwhile, locals have also started a donation drive to raise money for the families rendered homeless by the devastating blaze.
