Girls Steal The Show, Sweep Top Positions
Srinagar- Girls have once again managed to sweep top positions and private schools maintained distinction over government counterparts in the board exams as over 78 percent of the 72,684 candidates passed 10th class examinations that were conducted by the Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) last year.
According to a notification issued by the JKBOSE on Wednesday, girls have again outshined boys in the exams as 78.74 percent of girls passed the exams against the 78.14 percent of boys who have passed their exams.
In terms of Private schools whose candidates have passed the annual exams, JKBOSE has said that 91.18 percent of students managed to pass while in the Government schools, the number was only registered at 67.25 percent.
As per the figures, 38, 721 students from Government schools have appeared in the exams while only 26,040 students have passed their exams. “Out of 33,963 students from private schools, 30,967 students have passed the annual exams.” BOSE said.
Notably, as per BOSE, there are 19 students sharing top positions in the annual exams including 13 girls.
One of the toppers of the annual exam, Tabeena Fayaz of Spring Dales School in Palhalan, Pattan says that her success is mainly due to Allah and teachers and management of her school.
“My parents and teachers have constantly provided help and guidance throughout my educational journey especially in the pandemic. My success is mainly due to Allah and then because of my parents and teachers. This top position wouldn’t have been there if there was no support from them.” says Tabeena.
Last week, JKBOSE had declared the results for class 12th where girls have again outshined boys with top positions in all streams as 75 percent of the 72,000 candidates passed the 12th class examination. One of the toppers, Arusa Parvaiz’s moment of delight became a moment of depression for her and her family after she faced vicious trolling for her dress code.
Shifa Shafi from Fayaz educational institute, Nowgam— who has also secured a top position in the valley—says that it’s just because of Allah, teachers and her parents, she has managed to bring laurels to her family.
“Even though due to the pandemic our education shifted towards online, but our school never compromised on the quality of education that was being given to us. Our teachers were constantly sending us notes and videos, so that our education couldn’t suffer and it’s because of that struggle, I was able to secure a top position,” Shifa said.
Another topper, Hashim Nazir of Dooru Anantnag says that it’s because of a student’s hard work and drive to success, that brings laurels into one’s life.
“If one wishes to work hard and has that flair to become successful, no one can stop him from reaching that point. In my case also, that was what pushed me to study more and more. I’ll continue to work hard to bring more laurels to my family and make them feel proud.” Hashim said.
