Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday recorded 6568 fresh cases of novel Coronavirus, the highest ever spike since the outbreak of pandemic, while seven more people succumbed to the deadly infection in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to officials, Kashmir Valley reported the biggest ever surge in Covid-19 cases with 4693 more people confirmed to have contracted the virus during the last 24 hours. Similarly, the Jammu division registered 1875 new cases of the virus, taking the number of people infected in J&K since the onset of the pandemic to 390949.
In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar detected 1604 fresh cases of Coronavirus, Baramulla 749, Budgam 643, Bandipora 418, Kulgam 333, Kupwara 320, Anantnag 243, Pulwama 230, Ganderbal 99 and Shopian 54.
In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu reported a maximum of 1236 new cases of virus, Doda 120, Ramban 99, Samba 91, Udhampur 78, Rajouri and Kathua 59 each, Poonch 50, Kishtwar 49 and Reasi 34.
“Moreover, 2330 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 993 from Jammu Division and1337 from Kashmir Division,” the officials said.
Also, they said that seven more people, five from Jammu division and two from Kashmir, succumbed to the deadly infection during the last 24 hours, taking the death toll in the pandemic in J&K to 4598—2246 in Jammu division and 2352 in the Valley.
The officials also said that no new cases of Mucormycosis were reported Saturday, thus the total number of confirmed casesremains51 across J&K.
