Srinagar- Coronavirus cases show no sign of decline in Jammu and Kashmir as 5720 more people tested positive for the virus on Friday while five more people succumbed to the deadly infection in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to the officials, Kashmir Valley registered 3830 cases of novel Coronavirus in fresh spurt on Friday while 1890 new cases were reported from Jammu division, taking the total number of people infected since the outbreak of pandemic in J&K to 384381.
In the Valley, the officials said, Srinagar detected highest 1341 new cases of Coronavirus, Baramulla 688, Budgam 550, Ganderbal 246, Bandipora 241,Anantnag 237, Kupwara 208, Pulwama 170, Kulgam 106, Shopian 43,
In the winter capital, the officials said, Jammu reported a maximum of 1306 fresh cases of virus, Doda 103, Udhampur 100, Samba 99, Reasi 71, Rajouri 62, Kathua 61, Poonch 48, Ramban 22 and Kishtwar 18.
“Moreover, 1877 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 819 from Jammu Division and1058 from Kashmir Division,” the officials said.
Also, they said that five more people— four from Jammu and one from Kashmir died of Coronavirus related complications on Friday taking the death toll in the pandemic to 4591 in J&K —2241 in Jammu division and 2350 in Kashmir Valley.
The officials also said that no new confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) were reported on Friday, thus the total number of confirmed casesremains51 across J&K.
