Encounter Underway In South Kashmir’s Anantnag, Cop Injured

Srinagar- A cop was injured in an ongoing encounter that broke out between government forces and militants in Dooru area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.

A cordon and search operation was launched by a joint team of police and army in Nowgam Shahabad, Dooru area of the district on the basis of specific information suggesting the presence of militants in the area, said a police official.

The official said the search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire on the government forces which retaliated.

Meanwhile, Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said that a cop was injured in the encounter, adding that he was shifted to the hospital for treatment.
