Heighten Surveillance Of Vital Installations: LG To BSF

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Thursday asked the Border Security Force (BSF) to heighten surveillance of all the vital installations for ensuring a secure environment for the people of the Union Territory.

These remarks were made by LG during his interaction with NS Jamwal, Additional Director General, Border Security Force, Western Command, Chandigarh at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday, an official spokesperson said.

Jamwal, he said, briefed Sinha about the security situation in the area of his responsibility and discussed the preparedness and steps taken to strengthen the security along the Border.

“Discussion was also held on other important issues pertaining to increased jurisdiction of BSF from 15 to 50 kms from Border; development of infrastructure in border areas; land acquisition matters and developing border tourism at Octroi posts,” he said.

The LG, as per the official spokesperson lauded the role of BSF in safeguarding the territorial integrity of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that Sinha stressed on maintaining a sustained coordination between the security forces and advised the ADG for heightened surveillance of all the vital installations for ensuring a secure environment for the people of J&K.
