20 People To Be Allowed At Marriage Functions, 10 In Funeral
Srinagar: Days after warning tough measures against the violation of Covid appropriate behaviour (CAB), the district administration here on Friday announced strict curfew in parts of this capital city to combat the spread of coronavirus.
Corona curfew has been imposed in several areas of the city, including Zadibal (SMC) Ward No’s: 55-Hawal, 56-Alamgari Bazar, & 63-Kathi Darwaza) and Lal Bazar (SMC Ward No’s: 59-Lalbazar, 60-Botshah Mohalla, 61-Umer Colony) for a period of 10 days starting from today (Friday).
Curfew has been imposed in the areas where preparations were underway for the commemoration of Arbaeen on 28th of this month. Arbaeen marks the end of the 40 day period of Muharram mourning.
The order in this regard has been issued by District Magistrate, Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, who supervised a drive against SOP violators in the commercial hub of Lal Chowk earlier this week. Asad had also warned of curbs in the areas showing rise in daily positive cases.
“There are some areas, where positive cases are on rise due to violation of Covid-19 protocols. We will keep a watch on the next two-three days. If protocols are not adhered to in these areas, we will enforce a complete lockdown,” he had said during a whirlwind tour of the city on Monday.
According to the order, there shall be a 24 hour complete ‘Corona’ curfew with no movement of people except for permissible activities. Besides all educational institutions, all shopping complexes, bazaars, saloons, barber shops, cinema halls, restaurants, sport complexes, gyms, spas, swimming pools, parks, zoos, etc, shall remain closed.
“No social gatherings/functions whether indoors or outdoors shall be allowed. The permitted ceiling for marriage shall be restricted to 20 persons only. The gathering at funerals shall be limited to 10 persons only,” reads the order.
“There will be no ingress and egress of the public permitted in these areas except in case of Medical exigencies,” it adds.
Asad, who is also Chairman DDMA, has directed the Superintending Engineer R&B (PWD) to barricade the restricted areas. Also, the DM has asked Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar to ensure strict implementation of the order, while Tehsildar Eidgah has been named the Administrator for the Red Zones and all the line departments have been asked to coordinate and cooperate with the Administrator for effective implementation of the order.
“Chief Medical Officer shall ensure intensive door to door RAT/RTPCR testing in the mentioned wards. Last but not the least, the public at large is also being informed that Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act provides for penalties in case a person obstructs any officer or employee in discharge of his functions or refuses to comply with any direction given under this Act. Any violation of the above directions will, therefore, lead to prosecution under section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005,” reads the order.
About the permissible activities, the order reads, that all essential services including all incidental services and activities needed for smooth functioning of these activities shall be allowed to continue, both in the public and private sector. Besides it, standalone grocery/ vegetable/ meat/ milk shops may also remain open and functional to ensure provisioning of essential supplies from 7:00Am to 11:00AM only.
“There will be no hindrance to the smooth movement of goods and essential supplies. There shall be no restriction on the movement of Government Officials for attending office/ duties, on production of I-Cards/ official orders,” reads the order.
It also allows all development/ construction works to continue without any hindrance.
“The vaccination drive shall not be halted. Localized mobile teams shall be constituted to provide vaccination in colonies, residential areas and containment zones,” it adds.
