Week-long RM Workshop Begins At KU

Srinagar: A week-long workshop on research methodology started at the University of Kashmir on Wednesday.

Dean Academic Affairs Prof Farooq A Masoodi chief guest on the occasion inaugurated the online workshop, organised by the varsity’s UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), for research scholars from the disciplines of commerce, economics and management studies.

Addressing the participants, Prof Masoodi, dwelt at length on the role of statistical methods and techniques in all aspects of life, including academics and research. Explaining how different activities and economic decisions of governments and private organisations are based on methodology and analysis, Prof Masoodi said the workshop should familiarise scholars with the application of IT tools and newer software’s in their research disciplines.

“Such tools would equip scholars with a set of skills which shall eventually help them undertake research very effectively and also turn their research into publishable material in the form of articles, journals and books,” he added.

In his welcome address, Director HRDC Prof Mushtaq Ahmad Darzi applauded the efforts of the university authorities in approving the workshop aimed at skill development of young researchers.

He said the workshop also aims to educate young researchers about new research tools to help them draw rigorous and substantial conclusions to their experiments.

The workshop includes imparting lessons on research ethics, cluster analysis and descriptive analysis, review of literature, questionnaire development, factor analysis, hypothesis formulation and testing, qualitative research, reliability and validity testing, t-test and ANOVA, correlation and regression application and art of publishing.

Experts from reputed institutions including Wolver Hampton United Kingdom, JNU, Delhi University, University of Kashmir, SKUAST-K, Goa Institute of Management will be interacting with the participants during the technical sessions.

Dr Sumeer Gul coordinator UGC-HRDC highlighted the role of HRDC in enhancing knowledge, competency, skills and motivation of scholars towards writing good research proposals and conducting quality research of international standards. He also presented a vote of thanks.
