7 Family Members Injured in Attack
Jammu- A three-year-old child succumbed to injuries he sustained after militants lobbed a grenade on the residence of a BJP leader in Rajouri, officials said Friday.
Veer was among the seven members of BJP leader Jasbir Singh’s family who were injured in the attack on his house in Khandli area of the district last night, they said.
Veer succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the government medical college hospital in Rajouri around midnight, sources said.
The body been handed over to the family for last rites, they said.
The BJP strongly condemned the attack and appealed to the police to immediately arrest those responsible for it. The incident triggered protests by locals and the BJP leader’s kin who alleged Singh was not provided enough security.
Singh was also injured in the attack.
Soon after the attack, police and security force conducted searches in and around the town.
Perpetrators Will Be Brought To Justice: LG
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday condemned the attack on a BJP leader’s house in Rajouri district, which left a three-year-old child dead, and said the perpetrators of the heinous act will be brought to justice soon.
“My deepest condolences to family & prayers for early recovery of injured. Perpetrators of this heinous act will be brought to justice soon,” the LG said on Twitter.
A three-year-old child was killed and six members of BJP leader Jasbir Singh’s family were injured in the grenade attack on his house in Khandli area of the district last night.
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti also condemned the attack.
“Condemn the grenade attack in Rajouri in which a four year old child was killed & several others injured. My sympathies with their loved ones,” she said.
