Rs 144 Crore Projects To Generate Employment For 100 People
Srinagar: Two days after allotting land to investors for 15 projects in Jammu division, the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday cleared land for two projects worth Rs 144.66 crore in Kashmir Valley that could generate employment opportunities for a hundred people.
The land was approved for two mega projects by the high level land allotment committee in a maiden meeting chaired by Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Ranjan P. Thakur to approve allotment of land for establishing projects having proposed investment from Rs 50 crore to Rs 200 crore under the provisions of J&K Industrial Land Allotment Policy in Srinagar, an official spokesperson said Saturday.
After taking up all the five projects for allotment of land in industrial estates of IGC Lassipora, IE Khrew and IE Tulbal Sopore of Kashmir Division with a projected investment of Rs 430.41 crore, the official spokesperson said that the panel approved 2 cases of land allotment with a projected investment of Rs 144.66 crore having employment potential of 100.
“Rest of the 3 projects were discussed threadbare and due to certain shortcomings in the DPRs were referred back for completion. The establishment and registration of new units of air polluting industries in Industrial Estate, Khrew were deferred because of the moratorium by Pollution Control Board,” he said.
“Approximately Rs. 8,000 Cr and employment potential of 30000 persons in Kashmir are presently under the process of being approved. In the Union Territory of J&K, Projects worth Rs. 20000 Cr employing 64000 persons in J&K are in pipeline,” he added.
At the outset, the official spokesperson said that Thakur highlighted that the process of land allotment has been streamlined and is made transparent in a committee based appraisal and allotment method. The applications are received round the clock on the Single Window Portal www.investjk.inmaking it an ongoing process.
“The process of land allotment, for the first time adopted a strategy based on different parameters of the Project Report and presentations as envisaged in the Land Allotment Policy 2021-30,” the official spokesperson said.
Tazayun Mukhtar Kawos, Director Industries and Commerce, Kashmir (Member Secretary, High Level Land Allotment Committee) presented the agenda for five cases before the Committee and expressed optimism that the decisions in the meeting usher in a new era of growth, industrialization and employment generation in J&K besides promoting a culture of entrepreneurship.
The meeting was attended by Farooq Ah Shah, Secretary in Housing and Urban Department, Anoo Malhotra, Director, I&C Jammu, Parvaiz Ah Handoo, Director Planning, Forest Department, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, Managing Director KPDCL, Atul Sharma Managing Director, J&K SIDCO/ J&K SICOP, Fayaz Ah Fayaz, Joint Director, I&C Department, Syed Nadeem Representative from PCB and Mr. Shahid Kamili, President, FCIK Srinagar.
