Militants Flee After Brief Gunfight In North Kashmir’s Sopore

Srinagar- Militants have managed to flee after a brief gunfight at Warpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district last evening, officials sources said on Saturday.

State forces launched a cordon and search operation in  the area after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.

Militants fired upon state forces at the time  they were laying the cordon, according to news agency GNS.

“Reinforcements came and nearby orchard were cordoned and search started. However, there was no contact established with the militants and apparently they have managed to escape from the spot,” the sources said.
