Srinagar: After days of alarming increase, coronavirus cases on Monday showed a slight decline as 3614 more people in Jammu and Kashmir tested positive for Covid-19, while 56 others succumbed to the deadly infection across the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to the officials, 39 more people succumbed to coronavirus in Jammu division while 17 others died of infection at the various healthcare centres in Kashmir division on Monday raising the overall fatality count to 2782.
About the new cases, officials said that 2118 fresh cases of Covid-19 were reported from the Valley and 1496 were detected in Jammu division thus taking the total number of people infected by the virus to 220546.
Giving district wise details, officials said that Srinagar reported 701 cases, Baramulla 163, Budgam 343, Pulwama 135, Kupwara 187, Anantnag 134, Bandipora 65, Ganderbal 76, Kulgam 254, Shopian 60, Jammu 658, Udhampur 137, Rajouri 170, Doda 34, Kathua 146, Samba 158, Kishtwar 11, Poonch 57, Ramban 50 and Reasi 75 fresh cases of novel coronavirus.
Moreover, they said, 2423 more COVID-19 patients have recovered, 624 from Jammu Division and 1799 from Kashmir.
There are 49951 active cases, 17649 in Jammu and 32302 in Kashmir, the officials said.
