IT has been said by Doctors that the best vaccine is the one that is available. As of now, in India, there are two vaccine options available; Covaxin and Covisheild. Even then a lot of people in Kashmir are still vary of getting vaccination. Vaccine skepticism is not new. The current one is because many have exaggerated the side effects of vaccines. Some side-effects to a vaccine are expected, but these are usually mild, including a sore arm, tiredness and a bit of a temperature.
If you have underlying conditions, you can consult your doctor or a GP (general physician) and see if you can get vaccinated. You can also ask your GPs general protocols you would need to follow, after or before vaccination, if at all. If your parents and grandparents are apprehensive of getting a vaccine, it would be best to fix an appointment with a doctor and let them reassure them. This will help them be more willing.
In case any of your relatives have also received vaccination, you can ask them to share their experience with your elders. This will also help them prepare mentally.
Do not postpone getting a vaccine if you are eligible by age and your doctor has given you an approval. Although vaccines won’t prevent you from getting an infection, it has shown to decrease the severity of the infection. Sure, there are new variants but let’s have professionals deal with that. If you can get vaccinated, avail what is available.
