Gold Worth Lakhs Recovered
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police Friday arrested four nonlocal burglars during a Naka established in Jehangir Chowk Srinagar.
The burglars were involved in a number of thefts in the state including a recent theft at Kangan where the burglars looted one gold locket and a ring from a jewelry shop.
Giving details a police officer in Srinagar said that the burglars are all residents of Uttar Pradesh and are professional thieves.
The police officer said that o the directions of SSP Srinagar, Police Station Shaheed Gang Srinagar established a Naka at Jehangir Chowk and intercepted an Alto Vehicle. After checking the police officers on the spot found the four in suspicious conditions and brought them to the police station.
He said that during the course of investigations the four revealed that the four left UP on 12 March and reached Raghunath Bazar in Jammu. In Jammu, they looted a Jewellery shop and then traveled to Udhampiur where again they looted a jewelry shop.
The four left Udhampur and reached Srinagar and stayed at Dal Lake.
Later they traveled to Kangan where again they looted a jewelry shop. The four burglars revealed to the police officials that they have looted shops at many places.
The police officer said that they recovered eleven gold rings, three earrings, one broken earring, one locket, and some artificial jewelry from the burglars, besides a cash of Rupees 52000.
Upon further investigation, the police said, it came to fore that the burglars were in Jehangir Chowk to plan and target some jewelers and loot them
The police have registered a case and started further investigations.
