All Our Children Are Achievers

EVERY year, when results are declared for the 10th and 12th standard examinations, we begin to congratulate achievers and overlook those who’ve not been able to do considerably well.

It is fairly obvious to people of knowledge that merit often depends on one’s socio-economic position. Usually, it is those who are already privileged who manage to do the best due to the availability of the best of resources.

However, the situation in Kashmir is especially special. Here, students don’t only face the issues that come with socio-economic conditions only but the political situation also comes in the way of their growth.

Children world over faced difficulties due to the covid-19 lockdown. However, Kashmiri students had it worse because they had already lost a complete year to the political situation in Kashmir and even had the additional hurdles in their way to get access to education as the curtailed internet speeds made it extremely difficult for them to avail digital education.

Many stories of success in these results were also accompanied by peculiar stories of loss. Therefore, one cannot grade success in Kashmir. Here, all students have done their very best and we should be proud of them for ace-ing life against all odds.

To our children – May they grow, flourish and prosper in safety, peace, justice and happiness.
