House Of Asiya Andrabi’s In-Laws, Aide’s SUV Among 72 Properties Approved For Seizure
Jammu: In a major crackdown against the separatist leaders and alleged militant supporters, the Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday approved seizure of at least 72 movable and immovable properties, including a house belonging to separatist leader Asiya Andrabi’s mother in law and a SUV of her close aide Sofi Fahmeeda.
The police headquarters has accorded permission in 46 cases for seizure and attachment of various moveable and immovable assets of individuals or associations to restrict the militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir, a police spokesperson said Tuesday. Police, state forces and investigation agencies, he said, are fighting the challenges of the militancy at various fronts.
“While the number of militants belonging to different outfits is neutralized in the sustained anti-militancy operations, the handlers are using motor vehicles and the proceeds of militants for furthering their evil designs,” the police spokesperson said.
He further said that following the due procedures of the law, police has in last couple of years or so accorded sanction for seizure and attachments of four wheelers, motorcycles, cash, land houses and shops through different orders to ensure that the militant activities are under check.
“The permission for seizure has been granted under section 25 Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967,” he said.
He said that under this Act 61 vehicles, including 2 trucks, 1 tipper, 4 Alto cars, 2 Hyundai Creta, 1 Maruti Echo, 1 Baleno, 4 Santro, 1 Asta, 2 Wagon R, 1 Mahindra Quanta, 1 Auto, 2 Maruti Swift, 18 motorbikes, 5 Scooty, 2 load carrier, 3 Alto K10, 1 Maruti 800, 1 Load carrier, 2 Tavera, 1 Ambulance, 1 Tata Tiago, 1 Ford Figo, 2 Echo ambulance, 1- I20, and 1 Dutson have been seized.
“These include the Creta Car belonging to Sofi Fahmeeda, associate of Asiya Andrabi. Cash of rupees 370000, cheque worth Rs 50,000 has been also seized.
Besides immovable property which has been seized includes five houses including the house of Mehmooda Begum mother-in- law of Assiya Andrabi of banned Dukhtran Milat, six shops belonging to Nazir Ahmad Wani of Pulwama in case FIR number 39/2020 under section 18, 19, 39 ULA (P) Act and 01 Kanal, 06 marlas of land,” the police spokesperson said.
Pertinently, Asiya and her aide Sofi Fehmeeda are currently in Jail on charges of ‘anti-national activities’.
In 2021 so far, he said, the PHQ has accorded sanction for seizure of eleven vehicles which include six four wheelers and five two wheelers.
“Section 25 Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967 provides for the more effective prevention of certain unlawful activities of individuals and associations, and for dealing with militant activities, and for matters connected therewith,” he added.
