Share

Srinagar: Muslims helped a Hindu family in the cremation process of a man who died in the Maisuma area of Srinagar city on Monday.

According to reports, one Rakesh Kumar who was not keeping well from the past several months breathed his last on Monday. Muslim neighbours arranged everything required for the cremation process, these reports said.

Locals said they arranged a priest and shouldered the dead body upto the cremation ground. Kumar was cremated at Batamloo Shamshan Ghat.

The deceased was living with a couple of family members. “He once had a flourishing ready-made garment business but heavy losses in business affected his health and shattered family,” said an elderly Muslim neighbour.

He said Kumar had two sons but both abandoned him after his business crumbled. He was taken care of by his Muslim neibours during his difficult times and they organised his last rites too”, he said.
