Govt Signs MoU For Skill Development

SRINAGAR- The Government has taken skill development as a mission to create a pool of skilled workforce in the Union Territory, who can serve the nation both on local as well as on national levels.

For this purpose, Skill Development Department is exploring every possibility to get trained the local educated youth especially the students of different colleges and universities in the technologies having good market demand and accordingly, signed MoUs with several reputed National level organizations.

In this endeavour, the Government Polytechnic College (GPC), Baramulla has already established a Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation, and Training (CIIIT) in collaboration with Tata Technologies Ltd. Pune, for providing integrated training on technical and skill development and other disruptive technologies conforming to industry

Now the GPC, Baramulla has entered into an MOU with Islamic University of Science & Technology, Awantipora (IUST) aimed to up-skill the undergraduate and diploma students of IUST for providing high end practical oriented training, leading to their higher employability.

The purpose of this MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) is also to promote the culture of innovation, incubation, and entrepreneurship among the students, which will lead to the development of new products and technologies in the UT of J&K.

On behalf of the Skill Development Department, the MoU was signed by Er. Imtiaz Ahmad Shaw, Principal, Govt. Polytechnic College Baramulla while Prof. A.H. Moon, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology, signed it on behalf of IUST, in presence of  the Vice-Chancellor IUST, Prof. Mushtaq A. Siddiqi, Director, Skill Development Department, Mr. Sajad Hussain Ganai, Registrar, IUST, Prof Naseer Iqbal and H.O.D, Govt. Polytechnic College, Baramulla, Er. Pervaiz Bhat.

The event was an outcome of the understanding reached out between Vice-Chancellor Islamic University of Science & Technology, Awantipora, & Principal Secretary to Govt, Skill Development Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon.
